1. How do I reach Lachen?

Bagdorga / New Jalpaiguri to gangtok 4 hours (125 km) and Gangtok to Lachen 112 km ( 5 hours drive). A tourist taxi service to North Sikkim is available from Gangtok. Taxis will take about 5 hours to reach Lachen. |

2. Where can I Stay at Lachen ?
Home stays’ have been developed by the local community where host families provide guests traditional food and homely accommodation. There are at present 3 home stay facilities at Lachen
- Ringzing Chewang Homestay -:1 double bed Rooms
- Rabzor Home stay -: 3 double bed Rooms
- Gokey Homestay -: 1 double bed Rooms
Apart from the home stay, there are 27 hotels and lodges run by locals to serve visitors through the year. Booking for your hotel can be made from the travel agents or directly through phones See list of hotel
3. Do I need to obtain any permits?
Lachen falls under the Restricted / Protected Area of North district. Visitors making a trip to Lachen or near by places are required to make their arrangement through registered tour and travel agents in Sikkim. Additionally, foreign nationals are required to travel in groups of two or more.
Indian tourist will need to obtain Restricted Area Permit ( RAP) / Protected Area Permit (PAP) from the police check post at Gangtok.
For a over sea tourist apart from your Inner Line Permit ( ILP), you will need to apply for Restricted Area Permit ( RAP) / Protected Area Permit (PAP) with Home Department, Govt. of Sikkim through registered tours and travel agent of Sikkim.
