Zeemu or Green Lake Trek

Zeemu trek is one of the outstanding and adventurous trek in the region. Zeemu is popularly known as green lake trek. The glacial snow peaks surround the region as you traverse through the valleys. The trek route  runs along the left bank of the Zemu river and passes through the dense habitats of Silver fir forests, Birch dominated thickets, alpine scrub and alpine meadows culminate in the Green Lake (15,000 feet).

The highlights of this trek are verdant conifer forests, rich wildlife, majestic peak of Siniolchu, Tent Peak and Khangchendzonga and the massive Zemu glacier which is almost 1 km wide and 26 km long, perhaps the longest glacier in Sikkim. Trek above Yabuk, one can view the snout of the glacier formed in pyramid shaped from where the raging Zemu chu originates

Occasionally endangered herds of Blue Sheep (Pseudois nayur) can be sighted grazing on Green lake meadows. Other wild animals like Himalayan Black Bear, Serow, Red Fox, Pheasants can been seen roaming in the lower belt.
